Our Missions Focus

Our heart is to help each person who is part of The Ascent Church to connect INFLUENTIALLY with God's World.

Our global missions priorities are based simply on the Great Commission. We cherish the God-ordained opportunities to support missions and missionaries that support global church planting endeavors, minister among unreached and displaced people groups, provide for those in need and less fortunate, building construction ministry projects, orphan and elderly care, and to preach/teach/share/educate/disciple about the life we have in our Lord, Jesus Christ with Biblical truth. We desire to establish genuine partnership with all of our missions’ locations and missionaries.

 2017 Short-Term Mission Trips

Dominican Republic - July 8–15, 2017

Over the past 7 years The Ascent Church has sent 11 mission teams to the Las Brisas del Este community, an impoverished community that lies on the outskirts of the capital city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. We partner with VisionTrust who has established a sustainable relationship with a ministry called Semilla de Esperanza (Seeds of Hope.) Children can come to Seeds of Hope to receive tutoring, Biblical teaching, food and vitamins, basic medical care and the message of Jesus Christ on a consistent basis. Many members of The Ascent Church have sponsored children so that they can attend Seeds of Hope each day.

Our 2017 trip will focus on building relationships with the community and doing all we can to show people the love of Jesus. Our prayers for the trip include:

  • Reflect the glory of God in everything we do
  • Bringing to together a group of Christians that God will use
  • Perform much needed handyman services in the community (replace roofs, fix doors, repair furniture, etc.)
  • Playing basketball with the kids on the new sport’s court
  • How to best reach over 250 children in our Vacation Bible School
  • Ministering to the teens in the community who are too old for VBS and not yet mature adults
  • Developing leaders in Las Brisas to teach the love of God when we leave

Ethiopia - Feb 14-26, 2018

In Feb. 2010, The Ascent Church entered into a partnership with Compassion International and Mehale Ketama Kale Heywet Church in Debre Zeit, Ethiopia on a mission to release children from poverty in Jesus' name. Each year we have sent a team to partner in building a strong, united relationship in Christ.
On this trip, we will have many opportunities to partner in ministry with our sister church. We will minister to the elderly people who live in extreme poverty through a partnering ministry called Reach One Touch One Ministries (ROTOM). We will visit Compassion International sponsor children and their families and have opportunities for Bible teaching, leadership training, evangelism, working with children of the church, youth and families. Could God be calling you to go on a trip such as this, and use the God-given gifts He has given you?

Kenya - Dec. 2017

Pastor Richard and Hellen Makani are Kenyan missionaries supported by The Ascent Church. While church planting in Kitale, they came across the Kipsongo Slum (“The Place of Hopelessness”) and felt compelled to help and started Seeds Ministry. The Makanis began to dream of a home for orphans, a school, and a feeding station to meet their daily needs. Seeds Academy educates 430 students age 3-grade 7, and Seeds Orphanage provides love and care for 225 kids. We have been conducting a VBS, teaching leadership and life skills to the older kids, and assisting with the set up and outfitting of the new kitchen—dining hall which should be nearing completion, and have established a vocational wood workshop called "Joe's Workshop".
