Our Missions Focus

Our mission is to connect INFLUENTIALLY with God's World, through the power of the Gospel, both here in the Colorado Springs region and around the world.

Our global priorities are based on the Great Commission in Matthew 28:18-20 and Jesus' words in Acts 1:8. We seek to accomplish these priorities by coming alongside strategic global partnerships and select missionaries that facilitate church planting, pastoral training and leader development - primarily through the local church - in some of the most spiritually needy places in the world.  Because our ministry philosophy is based on partnerships, we seek to build a few long-term relationships in strategic regions that go deep relationally and allow us to see spiritual transformation over time.

GO (Global Outreach) Team

The GO Team is made up of missions-minded members of the Ascent who seek to live out God's mission right here in our own backyard - but who also connect on a regular basis with our global partnerships and missionaries around the world. Contact Executive Pastor Brian Petak (brian@theascentchurch.com) if you are interested in finding out more information.

2017 Short-Term Mission Trips

Kenya - December 5-9, 2017

Pastor Richard and Hellen Makani are Kenyan missionaries supported by The Ascent Church. While church planting in Kitale, they came across the Kipsongo Slum (“The Place of Hopelessness”) and felt compelled to help and started Seeds Ministry. The Makanis began to dream of a home for orphans, a school, and a feeding station to meet their daily needs. Seeds Academy educates 500 students age 3--grade 8, and a High School is currently under construction and has begun classes. Seeds Orphanage provides love and care for 230 kids. Our teams have been conducting VBS and Bible Study, playing with the kids, and teaching leadership and life skills to the older kids. We have also established a vocational woodshop called "Joe's Workshop" which teaches life skills and provides needed furniture for the schools and orphanage.

Ethiopia - Feb 14-26, 2018

In Feb. 2010, The Ascent Church entered into a partnership with Compassion International and Mehale Ketama Kale Heywet Church in Debre Zeit, Ethiopia on a mission to release children from poverty in Jesus' name. Each year we have sent a team to partner in building a strong, united relationship in Christ.
On this trip, we will have many opportunities to partner in ministry with our sister church. We will minister to the elderly people who live in extreme poverty through a partnering ministry called Reach One Touch One Ministries (ROTOM). We will visit Compassion International sponsor children and their families and have opportunities for Bible teaching, leadership training, evangelism, working with children of the church, youth and families. Could God be calling you to go on a trip such as this, and use the God-given gifts He has given you?
